This is the first in a series of short demonstration videos I would like to share here, on Substack. These are free to watch and they are more of an exercise for me, while I learn how to make better videos, and find out whether or not I can “graduate” to creating tutorial-like videos as part of paid subscriptions.
As you can probably guess, I am using my phone only. It’s propped up against something on my work table and I don’t have a separate microphone. Professional-grade this is not. However, as with everything, practice makes better and this is my aim here — to get better.
I have really enjoyed recording this video and I hope you can learn something from it or simply enjoy watching one step in many in the production of a finished and functional ceramic piece.
I will always appreciate your feedback and now, as I start on this video journey, all the more so. Please do not hesitate to tell me what I am doing wrong and what can be improved. Especially welcome are suggestions for themes I should cover, techniques, or just what you would like me to talk about or demonstrate.
So, thank you so much for watching and I promise that, next time, I will rotate the phone to landscape mode and will speak a bit louder.
Sara xx
Some notes to the video:
Sorry about the beginning, I never even say “hello” :)
The cobalt oxide pot is probably more like 13 years old, not 15
Apologies for the occasional sound of voices in the background, my studio is at home and the sounds are my family just going about their daily life…
