This post is a bit different. And let’s face it, it had to be. Because Amanda is most definitely one a kind. Yes, yes, we are all different. But let’s say Amanda is more different than most. In the bestest possible way. Yes, that’s a word.
So, welcome to Clay on my mind’s first (and possible only ever) audio post!
Amanda prefers audio because, as she explained, her brain refrains from writing when it can speak, and she tends to listen to her brain.
Amanda lives and potters in the Caribbean, on the beautiful island of St. Lucia, where she hosts a pottery retreat. She specialises in unique, bespoke pieces and Ball of Clay Experiences, a totally original and brilliant concept. She also publishes a second Substack, Amanda’s HeadSpace, where she shares her thoughts on different topics and current events “filtered through [her] neurospicy brain”. She wrote a sitcom which was aired on BBC Radio 4, and is the author of two books, which I haven’t (yet!) read but look like they have absolutely nothing to do with pottery. A veritable Jane of all trades, Amanda is!
Amanda is funny, a delight to talk to and I can’t wait for you to meet her! So, if you haven’t already, scroll to the top of this post and click Play. You can thank me later.
Here is the link to the post Amanda chose, in answer to my last question:
Other links you may find interesting:
~ the one where she tricked me into being interviewed
~ a Substack post that featured both of us, in a freak moment of complete serendipity
As always, thank you for reading — and listening! Interview with a potter will come back in a month’s time; regular Clay on my mind newsletter will be with you next Tuesday.
Until then, enjoy the beginning of a new season, take care of yourselves and remember to notice and delight in the little things.
Sara
