thank you so much for reading and your kind words—arriving at a time of much ambivalence and feeling like words are not enough, and then reminding me how much they do to connect. 💜
Sara, I love seeing the fruits of your pottery sabbatical--so many gorgeous new directions! After reading your letter last week, I plunged into two of my own non-linear sketchbook projects--one for watercolor and one for words. For the words, I'm journalling in 2-page non-chronological spreads and hope to connect the entries with playful poems, drawings, or small stories. Thank you for the inspiration! I can't wait to see what happens with your pottery this fall--especially with the terra sigillata techniques. And Sara, thank you for including me in this generous circle of talented and loving creators. Much love to you! xo
I feel you on the tomatoes!! We too have had a "tomato situation" with odd weather. I did take a photo of the most amazing heritage tomato, however- I will dig it out and share it with you. Quite magnificent 😆
And thank you (again) for your amazing words. Drawing guru- my word. I don't know how to process such a thing! But sharing a creative cosmos with you is more than enough!
Those colours and your studio.... 😍 I will book myself in for an uninvited visit!! Just glorious xx
And yes, you spy correctly! I recently bought "The Book of Alchemy" and have only skipped through and am waiting for the holidays to end to start it. Have you read it? If so, do you recommend reading it linearly or randomly, choosing a different essay each time?
Thank you for reading, Julie, and glad I could send some good reads your way!
My cousin had an extra copy from a live event, so it's been sitting on my desk -- also waiting for the right time to dip into. I will absolutely go in at random.
You are very welcome! These were fun to put together and also writing something about each one actually was a good exercise for me to think about why I liked each one. Glad to hear you found some to subscribe to. Take care, Al!
Ah, yes, as much as we love the clay, sometimes we just need a break from it. But as I can see, you're still getting your hands dirty... be it in the garden or with your paintings. 😊
We share so many favorites! What an honor to be part of such a lovely crew. I feel so inspired and restored by this community of good humans. 💛
Thank you for reading, Kimberly! I think you do your fair share of inspiring around here 😉

You are very welcome, Freya. Your words always strike a chord with me. 🤎

Ann, I'm so happy to hear that! It's great that you took the non-linear idea of the sketchbook and are applying it to words - how cool!
I'll be sure to share what I'll be up to with clay. The terra sigilata is something I've wanted to try for years...
Much love to you xx

I'm already making peace with the fact that I'll have green tomato jam instead of tomato sauce... Again!
Please do share the picture of the heritage tomato, I would love to see it!
I guess a true guru will always reject to be seen as a guru 😉
Drawing a cosmos...ohh... such a simple looking flower and so tricky to get right.
My studio is open to you anytime! xx
Love your bountiful garden! And do I spy a copy of "The Book of Alchemy" on your studio table? Good one!
Thanks so much for the shout-out. What brilliant company to be in. I will dip into the few I haven't tried yet. Yay!
Great! Always happy to spread the love :)

Great! That's what my gut was telling me to do, and so it shall be :)
Great post! Love the update from the garden! Nice job! Also thanks for all the great recommendations! I subscribed to a few new folks!

Yes, it's true! In the past, I used to chastise myself when these happened but with time I learnt that they were absolutely needed.
And yes, getting my hands dirty at all times is an absolute requirement😄
