I’m so sorry your bust exploded, but it made a good story for us and I am relieved there was no damage to your other work. I have found myself ignoring all else to do something that feels completely necessary in the moment, that was not, in fact, necessary- and I have a very strong dislike of packing that I will put it off until it must be done! Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the garden as spring approaches 💛✨

Glad to see my "productive" procrastination is not unique... Maybe we just don't like being told what to do? Even if it's by ourselves? 😬

The garden is indeed very much on my mind... and that is why I decided to clean and reorganise the studio...

Espero que não desistas da escultura. Acho o busto muito bem conseguido: uma figura feminina, com traços africanos e evocando a natureza. Em todo o caso, foi assim que o vi.

E as colagens são lindas! Continua, please!

This is all extermely familar, I always start to clean the entire house the minute I realise I actually should be packing. I often wondered about this and then I realised....the real problem is that I Hate Packing.

Such a shame about your sculpture, it looks brilliant apart from the exploding (I would be very stubborn and try to stick it all back together). I am terrible at sculpture - I am haunted by the memory of a hare that was much more like a guinea-pig than anything else.

Ha! I knew I wasn't alone! Thanks, Fi!

I am not sure if it's that I don't like packing or that I just don't like doing whatever it is that I MUST do... a bit of a contrary mindset, I have.

Maybe you're just brilliant at sculpting guinea-pigs? 😜

So funny your post Sara! I know that feeling, starting stuff at the last minute that could be done without stress a long time ago. Sometimes, my husband is waiting for me to go somewhere and I decide to put the dishes in the dishwasher! Don’t ask me why! 😁 I think this must be something from being woman. We can deal with a lot of stuff at the same time, so anytime is a time no matter what you have already. I’m of the kind, I go to do one thing and I start doing 2 or 3 all together just because they are interconnected or they are there for me to do. 😂. One thing I don’t do: I always start packing one week before and I’m never late for the plane or the doctor😁.

So sorry about your initiation sculpture bust! It really had a beautiful hair! But don’t worry, Sara. Learning by mistake is the best school there is!

Oh my god... I do the same thing! Always find something to do last minute, my husband calls them "side-missions" and he says I am the master of them. It's good to be master at something right? 😄

And yes, I did learn a lot from this first bust and I will be attempting another one soon. Work in the studio is a bit slow at the moment, end of Winter gets busy in the garden and this year I am learning how to prune our Autumn planted trees (apple, pear and plum) and it's driving me crazy!!
